LEARNING AT LONG STREET 📊🗞️

Years: 5 & 6
Teacher: Ms Witcombe

📈 We have recently been working extensively with data sets, creating bar graphs and pictographs. We have also learned to calculate the Range, Median, Mode and Mean of a data set. As we progress, we will continue to build on these skills by exploring probability.

👥 These photos capture a collaborative learning session where Year 6 students are teaching Year 5 students how to determine statistical values. This exercise provided an excellent opportunity for students to assume leadership roles within the classroom and reinforce their own understanding through a peer teaching model 💫

Years: Reception & Year 1
Teacher: Mrs Zhao

🐛 Through playful exploration, students are learning to recognise and extend patterns while strengthening their problem-solving and reasoning skills. Whether they’re building colourful number caterpillars or designing repeating shapes with pipe cleaners, they are developing a strong foundation in mathematical thinking.

🧮 These early patterning skills are an important step in understanding numbers, sequencing, and relationships—setting them up for success in future learning!
