LEARNING AT LONG STREET 🐍🍂🖤💛❤️

Year Levels: 3 and 4 (Room 13)
Teacher: Nicole Utting
Subject: Integrated Studies

Context: Students have been learning about sustainability and the impacts of sustainable practices on the environment.

Task Description: This week, we engaged with the One-Eyed Rainbow Serpent story on the ‘First Nations Bedtime Stories’ website. The narrative highlights the one-eyed rainbow serpent, who provided the local people with water, life, and everything necessary for their existence, while also protecting the land and its inhabitants.

Students connected the themes of this story to our integrated unit on sustainability. We brainstormed what we would observe and experience if we treated the land sustainably, contrasting this with the consequences of unsustainable practices. As a creative extension, students then produced artwork illustrating the environmental differences resulting from these two approaches. 🎨 🌳🪸
